Freelance Writer at Your Service

Growing up as an only child, I learned to entertain myself at quite an early age.  My mother worked nights as a labor and delivery nurse until I was in grade school.  Therefore, I had to find quiet games to play in the house while she slept during the day.  Enter the land of make believe.  Characters began to form in my head.  Their lives and personalities would unfold and soon they became real.  I filled notebooks, journals, pieces of paper, anything I could get my hands on with descriptions, conversations, family trees, and life stories.  This marked the beginning of my writing career.

In school, literature, English and grammar became favorite subjects which I excelled at.  In college, I tested the waters of journalism by writing articles for the campus newspaper.  Since college, I have held jobs in marketing, public relations, and communications.  Currently, I am a public relations manager for GodwinGroup in Jackson, MS.

I am a Mississippi girl raised by Chicago-area natives.  I live in the Jackson, MS, metro-area with my husband and son.  In addition to writing, I enjoy cooking and I chronicle the weekly culinary happenings of my kitchen in my food and cooking blog, The Cooking Bride.  In the past, I have written food columns for the Jackson Free Press.  My work has also been included in Mississippi Magazine, Stages Magazine, and The Northside Sun Magazine, Portico Jackson Magazine, Parents & Kids Magazine, and eat.drink. Mississippi.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.  I hope through my experience I have something to offer you or your organization.
